Kelly was my dog when I was a kid (in the 80s – vintage photo). She was the sweetest Doberman I’ve known to date, and not a harmful bone in her body. The next door neighbor’s cat had kittens and shortly thereafter died. My sister and I brought the kittens to Kelly, knowing she produced milk each month (called false pregnancy). Kelly immediately took to the kittens and nursed them, groomed them (one lick and they were sopping wet), and tried to hide them in the couch, stuffing them in the cushions or underneath, and then stood guard, protecting them. They grew to be very fat and healthy, and all were given to homes except one that we kept for Kelly.
