Every baby that has ever been born is a miracle, but in the case of Jaxon Buell, this miracle is exceptionally great in that he was born with only a small part of his brain and skull; the rest is missing. (The technical term for this disorder is microhydranencephaly, and no cure for it has been found as yet.) When he was born, his physicians predicted that he would live for only a few weeks, but he made it to one last August.
In this 34-second YouTube video of him — which is just one of many in which he appears — his mother is shown walking him to his bedroom. At the beginning, his father asks him, “You want to say hi to anybody in particular?” Jason responds by making a happy-sounding baby squeak, and his mother, who is holding him, asks him to say hi to the video. The scene then shifts to just outside the bedroom.
